Chelsea Crafts Fair 2005   Closes 1 March
Chelsea Crafts Fair attracts a wide and varied international audience from trade buyers, museum directors and gallery curators, to private collectors and design conscious shoppers. Presented by the Crafts Council, Chelsea Crafts Fair is the most important event for the contemporary crafts sector and generates a total income for participating designer-makers of around £2.6 million each year.

To give a sense of what you can expect from this show and related events on in London during this Fair Kate Daniel, Craft Australia's temporary international correspondent filed this report on the 2004 Chelsea Craft Fair.

Ubuntu: To make a place   Closes 4 March 2004
Exhibition and workshops for the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Ubuntu: To make a place is an exhibition to be staged as a highlight of the Commonwealth Games cultural program. Expressions of interest are being sought. Visit the Craft Victoria website for application details.

Commonwealth Arts and Crafts Awards 2005   Closes 31 March
Provides up to 10 young artists and craftspeople aged between 20 - 35 years the opportunity to gain experience by working alongside other artists or within an arts institution in another country. Visit the Commonwealth Foundation website for details.

The Tom Malone Prize 2005   Closes 18 February
The Art Gallery of Western Australia is now seeking entries for the Tom Malone Prize, a $10,000 annual award for Australian glass artists. For application forms visit the Art Gallery of Western Australia website or contact Robert Cook

Prometheus Visual Arts Award   Closes February 28
An acquisitive art award open to all forms of art media and conducted by the Prometheus Foundation. Prize $15,000 to promote the Visual Arts as an essential vehicle for human expression. Visit the Prometheus Art Award website

Artes Mundi Prize   Closes 28 February
Nominations are now invited from artists to be considered for the Artes Mundi Prize in 2006. In 2004 more than 360 artists were nominated from 60 countries around the globe. Send your nomination for one or more artists who you think should be considered for the shortlist. The two criteria are artists who have achieved recognition for the quality of their work in their own country or sphere and are emerging internationally; and artists who in their work discuss the human form, the human condition and add to our understanding of humanity. Saraswati Arts Program   Closes February and June
The Australia Indonesia Institute, the Government's council for supporting people-to-people links between the two countries, has teamed with the Australia Council for the first time to launch a new program to support more collaborative ventures for artists in both countries. The Saraswati Arts Program provides up to $20,000 for up to 10 projects per annum to organizations and individuals. 2005 Churchill Fellowship  Closes 28 February
Australian citizens over the age of 18 are eligible to apply for a Churchill Fellowship, which provide the opportunity for Fellows to undertake a minimum of four weeks overseas travel in pursuit of their project. Visit the Churchill Trust website for applications

JB SEED grants from John Butler   Closes 15 March 2005
The JB seed grant program, in its formative year, is a program that offers support to develop genuine artistic expression. The categories are designed to explore and encourage the social, cultural and artistic diversity in Australian society. It will create an open-minded "artist-friendly" grant program that focuses on positive outcomes. Visit the JB Seed website

Marketing Grant for NSW Artists   Closes 15 February
Applications are invited from professional artists and craft practitioners residing in NSW for the purpose of effectively marketing their work throughout NSW, interstate and overseas. Application forms can be downloaded from NAVA website

NAVA Visual and Craft Artists’ Grant Scheme (National)   Closes 15 February
Applications for grants to assist with the costs of public presentation of artworks are invited from professional artists, either individuals or groups. Application forms can be downloaded from NAVA website

Wollongong City Gallery - 2005 Resident Artist
The Resident Artist program is specifically aimed at artists residing in the Illawarra region. The program does not include domestic accommodation. The successful applicant will contribute to the Gallery's public program. Email Wollongong City Gallery for proposal details

OZCO Community Cultural Development Board update
Ros Bowler Award, Young Leaders Award, Partners Award – Closes 1 April
Skills and Arts Development, New Work, Fellowships – closes 15 April

Museums Australia Conference Bursaries   Closes 3 March
To supplement the national 2005 Museums Australia conference bursary program, Museums Australia (WA) will provide two bursaries to assist volunteer museum workers in Western Australia to attend the Museums Australia national conference in Sydney from 1-4 May 2005. Grant Writing Workshops
A new initiative of NT Writers' Centre, Music NT and 24 Hour Art, these workshops have been developed to support local writers, artists and musicians to develop an understanding of the ArtsNT grant application process in the lead-up to the March funding round. Call for images for Arts NT's website   Images to be received by 28 February 2005
Arts NT is looking for images by Northern Territory artists and of Northern Territory arts to include on its soon-to-be revamped website. Your work will be credited, and can be accompanied with an email link or a link to your website. Email Andrew Ewing

Call for sculptors and their artworks   Closes 25th February
We are calling for artists to showcase their sculptures at Sydney’s Garden and Flower Show in the beautiful surroundings of Darling Harbour’s Tumbalong Park. The Show will run from Thursday April 28th to Sunday May 1st. Contact Sheridan Hatcher Expertise Events for details.

Sculpture by the lake 2005   Closes 7 March
